Since 1998 we performed 1000 cardiac valvular operations. In recent years minimally invasive cardiac surgery (MICS) operation has become a standard method for mitral valve surgery. In MICS operation right thoracic small incision (6cm) at 4or 5th inter costal space is made and mitral valve repair is performed using cardiopulmonary bypass through groin incision. Merit of this method is not only cosmetic but less transfusion, less wound pain and quick recovery.

We started da Vinci system robotic endoscopic mitral valve repair which is performed at 26 institutes in Japan. Using da Vinci system more precise manipulation for cardiac repair can be made with safer and smaller incision.

Furthermore percutaneous catheter mitral valve repair with MitraClip has been available in our hospital.
